Black Cat Cougar!

Well I received my Black Cat Cougar over the weekend, but I just now got to test out a cut to compare with my Cricut Expression.  I picked a frilly design from LD Delilah Tags SVG set to make a comparison test cut. Click on the picture to take a closer look.

You can sort of see how the Cricut was a little wonky compared to the Cougar cut.  I need more time to play in order to figure out how to operate my new cutter.  I will try to get another project up this week, but I am not promising anything.

Joy's Life Easter Blog Hop

When Joy told me the theme for this blog hop was going to be projects to go inside Easter baskets, I was a little stumped to be quite honest.  So I thought about what typically happens on Easter Sunday.  It's a day that people usually attend a church service and then get together with relatives.  If you have a big family, you might be going from place to place.  So what are the kids supposed to do in their nice Easter outfits and away from their toys?  How about you make them their own Mini Travel Activity Box so they don't drive you and grandma crazy!!

I found this cute mini lunch box tin at Michael's!! I thought it would be the perfect size for the activity box and it's small enough to fit in an Easter basket too!!

Inside the tin is a sketch book, 3 felt finger puppets, a matching/memory game,
a puzzle game, bubbles and a cute dancing frog!!

MINI SKETCH BOOK

Mini sketch book was picked up Joann's in $1 bin!
I just re-covered it with some Martha Stewart Paper.

FELT FINGER PUPPETS

These are little finger puppets I created using images from the Cricut Easter 2010 cartridge.
I traced the shape patterns on felt, cut them out and hand stitched the sides.
I love the little lamb!!

MATCHING/MEMORY GAME

This is a matching or memory game inside an egg-shaped pouch also made of felt.
I printed out cute LD images on some 1 sided patterned paper and cut them out in egg shapes using Make-the-Cut software.

PUZZLE GAME

This is a mini puzzle game I made from this thing I found in the Joann's $1 bin called a flower protector.
I only used the bottom half (side with flower).  I punched out an image from patterned paper and punched 3 holes with Crop-a-dile (1/8 side).  Used foam squares to pop up paper from bottom, dropped in a few beads large enough not to fall through holes and sealed up the top with plastic.  Plastic topper was created by running an empty laminating pouch through lamination machine.

That should keep the kids occupied for a few minutes anyway!!  I hope you enjoyed my Mini Travel Activity Box.  It was fun to make!!  If you like what you see, become a follower and leave a comment on this post for a chance to win a $10 Lettering Delights Gift Certificate.  I will choose a random winner on April 2nd.

Now hop along to your next destination!!  But please come back soon!

On 2nd Thought - Circle Thank You

Happy Friday Bloggers!!

Here is another O2T card inspired by Kristina Werner, but I did not see this card on her actual blog.  I was scanning You Tube and I came across this video that someone made after purchasing Kristina's Virtual Card Club for June of 2009.  Under normal circumstances, I would not post inspirational items that are only available through purchase since that just doesn't feel right to me but the idea was already put out there on the internet for me (and you) to view.  I know...I know...2 wrongs do not make a right!  However I was impressed by the cards shown in the video, I decided to purchase several other VCC downloads for myself. So that's good...right?

So basically the card is 1" circles cut out of various patterned paper and adhered to a card base.  Sounds simple right??  Well if you ever tried to cut out smaller circles on a Cricut Expression, you would know better!!  I did use MTC software to print out several Paper Pack designs from my growing Lettering Delights PP collection and just used my Marvy Uchida 1" circle punch to get a perfect circle.  After adding a simple sentiment and other embellishments, I adhered each circle to the card base with a pop dot.

I really hope you enjoyed the cards I created this week using Make-the-Cut software.   I love that you can do so much with this program like making shaped cards, manipulating cuts/layers, printing directly from the "on screen" mat, and so much more!  I hate that MTC can no longer support Cricut machines.  I really hope PC reconsiders their position or there is an appeal to the decision, but I am not holding my breath.

Supplies:
Card Base - Blue Dot Paper Shop Cream and the card measures 4.25" x 5.5"
Patterned Paper - Lettering Delights Various Paper Packs
Sentiment - Joy's Life All Around Sentiments Clear Stamp Set
Ink - VersaMark
Corner Punch - We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper
Punches - Marvy Uchida 1" Circle Punch and Martha Stewart Butterfly Punch

Every 2nd Counts - Floral Hi

For this fun, E2C card I used Lettering Delights' Mulberry Lane Too SVG set.  I thought the row of flowers were super cute and would make a fun "hi" card.

I used Make-the-Cut software to sort and arrange all the layers up on one 12x12 cutting mat so I would only have to cut once.  Since the pieces were small, I was able to use up some of my scraps from earlier cards!  After cutting on my Cricut Expression, I assembled the layers using pop dots and added polka dots to the center of each flower with my white gel pen.  I think it turned out cute once all the elements were adhered to the card base.

Supplies:
Card Base - Blue Dot Paper Shop White and the card measures 5.5" x 4.25"
Patterned Paper - Lettering Delights Paper Packs (Black Polka Dots from Love is Sweet PP)
Sentiment - Basic Grey To Do Clear Stamp Set
Diecut Image - Lettering Delights Mulberry Lane Too SVG Flowers

Every 2nd Counts - Butterfly Stencil Note Card

I picked up this Sweet Spring SVG set from Lettering Delights during the Dollar Day's Sale because I thought the last image of the butterfly in the soft square shape would make a great E2C note card.

I used Make-The-Cut software to make the card base.  I followed Jin Yong's tutorial over at Under a Cherry Tree.  I also used LD Love is Sweet Paper Pack to create the polka dot background for the bottom layer/card base.  I cut all the layers with my Cricut Expression and assembled using pop dots.  I added some white stitching around the edge of the top layer for visual interest.

Supplies:
Card Base - Blue Dot Paper Shop White and the card measures 4.25" x 4.25"
Solid Paper - Blue Dot Paper Shop Citrus Peel and Caribbean Blue
Patterned Paper - Lettering Delights Paper Pack (mentioned in the above post with links)

Every 2nd Counts - Baby Gift Card Holders

For today's project, I made gift card holders using Lettering Delights Sweet Nothings Gift Card Holder SVG set. The one I used was the green one shown below (third from the end).

I used Make-the-Cut software to overprint a light pink pattern from the LD Provincial Princess Paper Pack on light pink paper so it will have a solid inside for writing a message.  I cut the gift card holder and assembled.  Below are 2 versions I created.  The purple was printed from the LD Spring Buddies Paper Pack in the same manner as the pink version.

Supplies:
Base - Blue Dot Paper Shop Pink, Purple and Cream
Patterned Paper - Lettering Delights Paper Packs (mentioned in the above post with links)

On 2nd Thought - Call Me

In light of all the buzz that has been surrounding the settlement between Make-the-Cut and Provo Craft, I decided to create all my projects this week using MTC software.

As I mentioned before, I LOVE the cards that Kristina Werner creates and I often use her cards as inspiration.  She created this cute Call Me Anytime card a while back that I thought was super cute.  During the Dollar Days Sale over at Lettering Delights I picked up this Good Company SVG set just so I could create my own version for this On 2nd Thought (O2T) project.

I used MTC software to create all the elements for this card using a print and cut (PNC) technique.  Below is a picture I took after I cut out the elements using my Cricut Expression.

This is what the card looked like after being full assembled.

Have a great Monday!!

Talking Trash

There are quite a few cards that never make it beyond the craft room workspace.  Immediately after completing a project/card, if I don't love it there is a good chance it will hit the trash.  I will work with it in order to "save" it like I did with my O2T Fish Card, but if I deem it as hopeless...well...to the trash it goes!  So here are a few of my hopeless creations that will not find a life beyond my craft room.

The Lady Bug and Zap cards were my attempts to create a little sunshine for our bug-man.  He runs his business out of his home so every quarter when I get my invoice, I create a special card so mail his check.  I would like to think that it puts a smile on his face to receive a Thank You card along with a payment.  I do the same thing with our trash-man!!

Now...stop going through my trash and look at some of my other creations!!  Have a wonderful day!

On 2nd Thought - Fish Card

This O2T card started out in my head as an E2C card that should have only taken 10 minutes or less to create.  I knew I wanted to create a fish card for my husband's uncle's birthday.  He loves fishing and I thought the fish from the Cricut Wild Card Cartridge (page 66) would fit the bill.  So I am thinking I would have 2 quick cuts and that would be that.  Boy was I wrong!!  After about an hour fussing over the colors, sizes, textures the card finally came together!!  I am happy with how it turned out, but it doesn't look anything like my initial idea.

Supplies:
Card Base - Blue Dot Paper Shop Kraft and the card measures 4.25" x 5.5"
Solid Paper - Light blue and green are BDPS; Grey and dark green are unknown (pulled from the scrap bin)
Diecut Image - Cricut Wild Card Cartridge (page 66)

Page 2 Page - Precious Baby

Here is another "experimental" page I created all in efforts to find my "scrapbook style."  As you can see by my previous posts, I am a clean and simple girl all the way when it comes to creating cards.  The funny thing is that I think I like more of the frills on scrapbook pages.

Stamps - Fancy Pants 6x6 Little Star Clear Stamps
Diecut Images - Doily from Cricut Mother's Day 2010 and Lettering Delights Cutie Patootie SVG Set

Every 2nd Counts - Twitter Park Hi There!

After making the last E2C card (Twitter Park Thanks), I had some left over cardstock that I just could not let go to waste.  So I made a companion card using the scraps and the same Lettering Delights Twitter Park SVG set.

I used MTC software to size one of the flowers and cut the layers out using my Cricut Expression.  I adhered it to the card base and added a simple sentiment to finish it off.

As you can probably tell by now based on my other card posts, I like clean and simple style cards.  What's the saying..."less is more!"

Card Base - Blue Dot Paper Shop White and the card measures 4.25" x 5.5"

Every 2nd Counts - Twitter Park Thanks

For my birthday, I got a new ink jet printer.  I wanted to try out printing some paper packs that I purchased from Lettering Delights just to see how well my printer could handle the bright colors and thick card stock.

The Paper Packs I used are as follows along with links to LD.
Teal, Blue, Green and Yellow papers from Matryoshka Family Paper Pack. (I ended up not using the blue paper on this card.)

Brown paper is from Tie One On Dad Paper Pack.
I used MTC software to fill up an entire 8.5 x 11 sheet with the yellow patterned paper to be used as my card based.  I decided to overprint on some light yellow cardstock just to see what would happen.  I really liked the way it turned out!  Then I created 4 6x6 squares that I filled with the remaining colors that I wanted to use to cut out the cute bird from the Twitter Park SVG set.  You can see in the photo below that I was able to print all 4 6x6 squares on a12x12 sheet of cardstock. I think it is so cool that you can print directly from MTC!!

Bird is from the Twitter Park SVG set. (Note - I flipped the bird image in MTC so it would face the other direction.)

Photo below shows 6x6 squares printed all on 12x12 sheet directly from MTC.

I cut out the bird layers as seen above using my Cricut Expression. I didn't like the way the flowers cut out on the light green layer so I edited the cut file in MTC to take the flowers out and just used my Martha Stewart 3-in-1 Hydrangea Punch to get the same look.  I think the card turned out sweet and simple once everything was adhered to the card base and the sentiment stamped.

This card would have been a 5 minutes or less card if I would have used some of the patterned paper I had on hand instead of printing out my own using the LD paper packs.  I am going to play some more with the printing feature in MTC to make more CAS E2C cards so be looking for those soon!

Supplies:
Card Base - Blue Dot Paper Shop Yellow and the card measures 4.25" x 5.5"
Patterned Paper - Lettering Delights Paper Packs (mentioned in the above post with links)
Sentiment - Inkadinkado Thank You Words Clear Stamp Set
Diecut Image - Lettering Delights Twitter Park SVG Bird
Ink - Stazon Timber Brown
Corner Punch - We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper
Flower Punch - Martha Stewart 3-in-1 Hydrangea Punch

Every 2nd Counts - Thinking of You

For this E2C card, I decided to make a Thinking of you card using Lettering Delights DoodleBat fonts sets  DB Geo Deco Solid and DB Butterflies

I used MTC software to size the circular frame and butterfly.  Then cut using my Cricut Expression.  I inked up the edges of the butterfly wings and adhered to the card front off center of the frame so you could see the pretty patterned paper.  I added some pearl rhinestone stickers and stamped the sentiment.

This was a super fast card to pull together!!

Every 2nd Counts - Party Time

Today is the last day of the birthday week E2C card collection series.  Here is another card I created using Lettering Delights and MTC.  Like the last few cards, I used the Birthday Sparkles Stencil SVG set.

After creating all the other cards in this birthday card series, I had some left over cardstock that I didn't want to waste.  So I sized the letters for "PARTY" in MTC to make sure they would fit on a standard card and cut each letter out using my Cricut Expression.  Then I glued the layers together and attached them to the card with pop dots.  I used my mini alphabet set to spell out the word "time" to complete the card.

Thanks for checking out my birthday card series.  I think it would be fun to make a bunch of these cards from the entire series using different colors to create fun party invitations.

Supplies:
Card Base - Blue Dot Paper Shop White and the card measures 5.5" x 4.25"
Solid Color Paper - Scraps from all the other cards made earlier in this series.
Sentiment - Studio G Mini Alphabet Clear Stamp Set (from the $1 bin at Michael's)

Every 2nd Counts - Got Cake?

It is day 4 of the birthday week E2C card collection series.  Here is another card I created using Lettering Delights and MTC.  Again, this card uses the Birthday Sparkles Stencil SVG set.

After cutting out the cake image on my Cricut Expression, I layered it on top of patterned paper with pop dots.  I cut a small section of solid yellow cardstock and rounded the corners with my corner chomper.  I stamped the sentiment, added a button and adhered to card with a pop dot.  Talk about super easy!!  Have I mentioned that I LOVE this LD SVG set?

Please come back tomorrow to see the next birthday card I created using this Lettering Delights SVG set.

After cutting out the "birthday" image on my Cricut Expression, I layered it on top of a brightly colored patterned paper with pop dots.  Then I cut a section of solid light green paper with my scalloped edge punch and placed on the side of the diecut image for some visual interest and to add a pop of color.

I hope you are enjoying the cards I created so far.
