Joy's Life Design Team Thursday - Surf Dude

Joy's Life Design Team Thursday featuring Joy's Life Father & Son Clear Stamp Set.

My friend and I recently went to see the movie Soul Surfer so when Joy mentioned this week's theme was Summer Time my brain jumped to surfing.  I found a cute surf board image to cut from Lettering Delights Summer Vacation DoodleBat Font.  I used MTC to size and color the surf boards.  For the larger surf board I used a wood grain pattern from LD Dee-licious Paper Pack.  I used my Epson printer and my Cougar to print-and-cut the images.

I actually made this card with my Mom who was visiting this past weekend.  I always love crafting with her!  We laughed so much!  At one point, I was ready to put the clear embossing powder on the big surf board but I accidentally used the white embossing powder instead...ha!  Anyway once the surfboards were finally embossed and ready to go on the card we both thought it needed something else, but we weren't sure what.  After walking away for the night to take a fresh look the next morning there were still no good ideas so I simply used pop dots to adhere the 3 surf boards to the card base.  I may have to revisit this one if an idea finally hits me to dress up this card.

I hope you enjoyed this card.

  1. I like this card especially the fun colours. I often make a card then put it up on my kitchen shelf for a day just to make sure I like it. I often have a last minute light bulb moment and add the finishing touch, then it's complete.

  4. I love the simplicity of all your cards. It's like taking photos... the less busy the background, the better the picture. However, if you are looking for a suggestion... maybe some type of faux sand look. You might be able to do that with embossing powder, glitter, etc.
