On 2nd Thought - 3rd Birthday Butterfly Card

I have another On 2nd Thought (O2T) card today!!  This one is based on a card I saw in the current issue of the Paper Crafts Magazine by Teri Anderson (see page 59).

I was asked by a friend to make a birthday card for a little girl who will be turning three.  I was told the girl loves butterflies and the color purple.  With not much to go on, I opened my Paper Crafts Magazine that had just come in the mail to see if anything would inspire me.  I was in luck because the issue had several cards featuring butterflies.  I really loved the simplicity of Teri's card so I decided to see if I could make it work for my needs.

I used the Oh Hello Flutter SVG set from Lettering Delights.  After sizing the butterfly images in MTC, I used several papers from LD Peep Paper Pack as a texture to fill in each butterfly so I could print and cut using my Epson printer and Black Cat Cougar.  I stamped "Happy Birthday" on the card base and adhered the butterflies around the sentiment.  I used an alphabet set to stamp the number "3" next to "happy" and just wrote in the "rd" with a black sharpie pen to complete sentiment.

Here is a closer look at how I layered and dressed up the purple butterfly.

I love butterflies too so I am sure I will be making this card layout again!!

Card Base - Blue Dot Paper Shop White | Card measures 4.25" x 5.5"
Patterned Paper - Lettering Delights Paper Pack - Peep

Every 2nd Counts - Dot Dot Dot

Have you heard that Jennifer McGuire and Kristina Werner are putting on a Summer Card Camp?!?

Today is the first day of the 4 week camp!!  So the challenge is to create a card using these colors:

Here is my E2C card using this week's color combo.  As you can see, I was also inspired by the dots!!  This card was super simple to pull together.  I used my 5/8" circle punch and some scrap DCWV textured card stock to create all the fun dots.  You can't really see in the photo, but he blue and orange dots are popped up off the card base to give the card some dimension.

Hope you enjoyed this card!

Supplies:
Card Base - Blue Dot Paper Shop White | Card measures 5.5" x 4.25"
Sentiment - Fiskars All Year Greetings Clear Stamp Set
Ink - Stazon Jet Black
Circle Punch -  Marvy Uchida 5/8" Circle Punch
Accessories - Pop dots

On 2nd Thought - Elephant Shaped Card

For this On 2nd Thought (O2T) card, I was inspired by this post from Jin over at Under A Cherry Tree  to make this cute elephant shaped card. This cutie is for a little girl's first birthday.  I really like "shabby chic" look to the card.  This could easily be turned into a little boy's card by replacing the pink with green or blue.

The elephant is from Lettering Delights Sweet Nothings SVG set.  I made my card base and layers in MTC and cut out using my Black Cat Cougar.  I punched a 1 1/4" circle out of the scrap kraft cardstock from the middle elephant layer and added the number "1" and cupcake embellishments to both sides in order to hang from the elephant's trunk.

Here is a closer look at the embellishments hanging from the elephant's trunk.  I can see myself using this layout over and over again with changing out the embellishments to meet my needs in order to change the overall look to the card.

Joy's Life Design Team Thursday - July 4th Cupcake Picks

Joy's Life Design Team Thursday featuring Joy's Life All Around Sentiments Clear Stamp Set.

I made these cute cupcake picks for a 4th of July party.  It would be really easy for anyone to knock out a couple dozen of these picks using Joy's All Around Sentiments Clear Stamp Set and some basic crafting supplies!

I just stamped the YUM circle image on white card stock and punched out using my 1.5" circle punch.  Using my small circle and star punches, I cut out my center layers for the pick.  I was able to use up some scrap paper too!!  For additional visual interest, I cut the fun silver stars from some left over Christmas holiday garland I had on hand and glued them to the back of the star.  White stitching lines on the star and pop dot's to layer everything together and...PRESTO...a simple and cute cupcake pick!

I didn't have any cupcakes on hand to photograph this little cutie, so I used these yummy frosted sugar cookies instead!

Glory 2 God - G2G Mission Trip Card

Hello everyone!  I have decided to create a new series of cards under the label Glory 2 God (G2G) and also give you an opportunity to share your G2G cards/projects (see inlinkz below supply list)!  Here are a few cards that I made prior to launching this blog to give you additional inspiration (visit my SCS gallery for card details -  Jan. 2010)

So to officially start this series, I created this card for a friend that will be traveling to Honduras on a mission trip with his church this summer.  I wanted to send a note of encouragement along with a small donation in more than a store bought card or a security envelope.

First, I punched two 1.5" squares from yellow and orange scrap cardstock.  Then I stamped the people image from the Inkadinkado Clear Inchies Sunday School Stamp Set on the 1.5" squares.  I also punched a 1.5" circle from black cardstock.  Using Lettering Delights LD Chaplin Font, I sized the "G2G" using MTC software and cut out with my Black Cat Cougar.  I layered everything up on the card base.  Finally, I used a mini alphabet set that I picked up from the $1 bin at Michaels a while back to stamp Glory To God under each letter.

O God, we give glory to you all day long and constantly praise your name. Psalm 44:8 NLT

Do you have a G2G card you would like to share?  Post a link to your card below the supply list.

Every 2nd Counts - Congrats! (New Driver)

For this E2C card, I made a quick Congrats card for a friend that has a daughter that just got her driver's license.  I thought it would be cute to hang a set of keys off the "G" in "Congrats" like you would on a key hook.  I found the image for the keys on the internet and used Make-the-Cut, my Epson printer and my Cougar to print and cut the image out.  The font used for the letters is from Lettering Delights This and That font set.  This was a really simple card to pull together.

Card Base - Blue Dot Paper Shop White | Card measures 4.25" x 5.5"
Diecut Letters - Lettering Delights This and That
Corner Punch - We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper
